Multiple Sclerosis is a disease of the central nervous system that interrupts the flow of information between the brain and the body. This chronic disease affects the brain, brain stem and spinal cord, with varying severity. Common symptoms are difficulty walking, balance issues, memory loss and muscle weakness.
The cause of MS is unknown despite years of scientific research. Studies have shown, though, that trauma, specifically trauma to the head, upper back and neck, appears to worsen the course of the disease.
Some of the most current studies show a link between MS and the upper cervical spine, demonstrating a link between correction of upper cervical subluxations and reversing the disease. Dr. Peddy, and all Upper Cervical chiropractors, can contribute to the lives of these patients by adjusting their C1 and C2. Although there is not a cure for this affliction, any relief of the multitude of MS symptoms can greatly improve the quality of life for their patients.
